Things From My Baby Registry That I Still Use (Four Years Later)

Creating a baby registry feels extremely overwhelming, because you are making a list of things that you don’t know anything about, for something you have never done before. The best recommendations came from close friends and coworkers - people that I know and trust.

Once the baby comes, you figure out that some things that work for other people might not be your favorite, and some of your midnight amazon purchases end up being at the top of your list.

I have two girls, now two and four years old. There are a few things that were on my registry that we STILL use. Here is a list of products that we have used through all stages, from newborn to preschool age:

Hatch sound machine

We have used this since the day we brought our oldest home and still use it in both of the girls’ rooms as a sound machine and “okay to wake” clock. We turn the light pink for overnight and it turns green when it’s time to wake up, which has been a game changer for continuing to have my coffee in peace in the morning.

Lou Lou & Company swaddles

We have had these blankets since our oldest was born and four years later they still look and feel brand new. In the newborn days, we used them as swaddles and on the floor for tummy time. Now my two year old pulls one over her head to sleep every night (I know, terrifying, but she won’t let me take it off). And my four year old sleeps with one as her “blankey”.

Pack n Play

We started using this the day our oldest came home from the hospital as another place for naps and diaper changes in the living room. As the girls got older and we started to travel, this has been perfect. Nobody has been able to climb out of it, they slept just as well int his as their cribs at home, and it is SO easy to set up.

This hamper

You will never stop doing laundry. So you might as well have a beautiful hamper to hold all the dirty clothes, right? We have this in all of our bedrooms and they look the same as they did years ago. They have been rolled around, climbed in by toddlers, held clothes, and stuffed animals.

Infant optics monitor

We have had this monitor since our oldest was a baby and love it. You can easily add additional cameras and the monitor will automatically switch between all of the cameras every 10 seconds. It is super crisp, so you can see exactly what crazy things your toddler is doing instead of sleeping.

Wet/dry bags

We have used these from everything from pump parts to clothes from a diaper explosion to wet swimsuits. These are amazing and so easy to clean. We have a few and keep them int he car, stroller, and diaper bag.

Convertible carseat

This slim fit convertible carseat is affordable, works great, and can fit three across in the car if needed. We have used this from 10 months old and they are both still in the same car seats at two and four years old.
