16 Must Haves From Trader Joe’s That Our Kids Love

It is no secret that Trader Joe’s is the holy grail of grocery stores. Walking the aisles is basically self care and they have everything you need and some things that you don’t need but must try.

I don’t know about you, but I am constantly trying to find quick, healthy meal ideas for my two toddlers. These Trader Joe’s favorites are on heavy rotation in our house and most can be made in the microwave or air fryer. The quicker the better when it comes to “cooking” with a hangry child clinging to your leg.

Here is a list of our tried and true Trader Joe’s favorites for kids (and us):

Breakfast:

  1. Frozen Silver Dollar Pancakes

Every morning, I ask the girls what they want for breakfast, and every day the response is “little pancakes.” I make sure to never run out of these.

2. Frozen Blueberry Waffles

This is one of those things that for some reason, is better than plain waffles in my kids’ eyes.

3. Drinkable Yogurt Smoothies

These are amazing for a quick breakfast if you are short on time before daycare or school dropoff.

4. Pomegranate Seeds

These are great as a side, sprinkled on top of yogurt with granola, or “hiding” in their cereal.

5. Whole Milk Greek Yogurt

A filling, healthy, and low sugar breakfast option. The girls will inhale this plain or sometimes with frozen fruit on the top.

6. Panda Puffs

A fan favorite cereal in our pantry at all times. This is also a great snack, dried, in those little snack containers for on the go.

Lunch or Dinner:

7. Mushroom Risotto

I can confidently say that this is Maeve and Marley’s favorite food. They like it even more than mac and cheese - shocking, I know. Dan and I love it for an easy side, too.

8. Sweet Potato Gnocchi

This is something our whole family loves and is a good switch up to the traditional pasta dinner.

9. Cauliflower Pancakes

trader joes

These resemble hashbrowns, but are full of veggies. We have bought these since the girls were babies.

10. Turkey Meatballs

This is frozen, easy to heat up, and is a great add on to pasta.

11. Spinach Tortellini

trader joes

It has spinach in it and toddlers will eat it?! A big win in my book. Dan and I love these too with pesto or marinara.

12. Chicken sausage

There are so many different varieties of these chicken sausages. We cut them up for the girls and put them on top of rice, sweet potatoes, or brussel sprouts for ourselves.

13. Riced Cauliflower Stir Fry

trader joes

This is packed full of veggies and the girls love it, because it is so similar to rice! We make this a lot as a family, sometimes with meat on the side or in a bowl with this.

Snacks:

14. Bamba

trader joes

These were recommended by our pediatrician for introducing the girls to peanut butter as babies. They are still a favorite on the go snack I keep in the diaper bag.

15. Freeze Dried Fruit

This is another pantry staple, with a ton of different options. They are great on their own as a snack, or sprinkled on top of yogurt or cereal.

16. Mediterranean Style Hummus

Marley will eat spoonfuls of this. I love it too, and it is a great way to get the girls to eat their veggies.

I hope you can add these to your list for the next Trader Joe’s run. You won’t be disappointed!
